Police in San Jose are working to solve a mystery that is fueling a political drama. Campaign signs were damaged, and a text message is raising some eyebrows.
Sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning, someone vandalized a six-foot tall “Re-Elect Madison Nguyen” campaign sign along King Road in East San Jose. Nguyen said it’s not the only one, a total of eight signs at five different locations were destroyed.
Police are investigating and say it could be misdemeanor vandalism.
This would just be another election year whodunit, if it weren’t for a text message that Nguyen said she got from opponent Minh Duong’s campaign manager Sunday night. It said, “Your volunteers or you have placed signs on my Latino supporters supporting Minh. These signs will be removed tonight.”
